2007-2008 School Closings and Calendar

Emergency Closing Information

Unless storms or emergencies occur, the Cumberland Public Schools calendar will be followed. Parents may use their judgment under storm conditions, although regular attendance is necessary for high achievement.

Sometimes one community may choose to close or delay the opening of school on stormy days. However, only an announcement affecting Cumberland will be official.

School closings or delays in Cumberland will begin being announced at 5:45 a.m. on TV Channel 6, 10, and 12 and radio stations WPRO am/fm, WNRI, WHJJ, WWBB fm (B101), WHJY fm 94.1, WSNE fm Coast 93.3.

If Cumberland is not mentioned over any of these stations schools will be in session making it unnecessary to call school officials or radio/tv stations.

Additionally, if schools are dismissed early, please make sure you have contingency procedures in place to ensure your child's safety and make sure the school is notified of procedures to be followed.
